Watercolor shades

“As if painting a canvas, with contrasts and textures, Tania Manela Kurc spent decades creating this garden in her beach house on Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro. Around the bamboo groves already on the land, she created stone paths and lined them with numerous species of groundcover typical of the region, such as the purple-hued trapoeraba. “Everything here grew from seedlings from parts of the island that I transplanted to the flowerbeds,” she says. In the champagne-colored ipê lookout, the landscaper often spends hours contemplating her work.”
